Is this stand suitable for HH Ultralite?

    Hi

I am looking for feedback regarding the following item being suitable for Hennessy Ultralite

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Wooden-Ham...item255ad5e3b7

To my mind it seems ot will be fine, but I would rather ask here prior to bidding

    Thanks in advance.

Not much in the way details in the posting. The crucial issue is going to be how far off the ground the hooks end up. That would depend on the length of the wood supports. I have seen similar metal brackets where the consumer buys the wood to complete the project. That way you can make it whatever you want within reason. If you want the stand then go ahead a bid. You can always replace the wood if it is not what you want. But those kinds of wooden stands do tend to have some problems once the wood is compressed under continued load. The supports can become somewhat unstable. Not to the point of tipping over, but squeaks and sways can be very difficult to get rid of.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Okay I decided to make the stand following the link above. Although not a masterpiece it certainly feels nice to have made it for about half the price of a less sturdy one.

However I would like some advice please.

I use the Ultralite just using tree huggers and supplied cord. I was just going to drill a small hole through the wide face of the uprights and thread the line through that and tie the Hennesey way (as I always do). Is that okay/better than using suggest optional eyebolts. To my mind it keeps it simple

I am sure the hammock stand on Ebay would work but if you have some carpentry skills you should try to build your own using 2x4's and 4x4's. Its usually cheaper and stronger then anything you can buy.

Yes that's exactly what I have done.
In my post above yours I was looking for feedback with regard to drilling a hold through the upright's wide face to feed the line supplied with the Ultralight. I can't imagine it would be a problem, but since I've not seen it used as an option elsewhere I though I would ask.

I made this exact stand and I have an HH Exped. I find it easier to use the eyebolts. You can still do the HH lashing as usual, with no problem. It also gives you the option to use biners if you wanted to.
