I did this initially and had some trouble adjusting with the cord locks. Then, I broke a ridge tato hanger so resorted back to my current setup. I found the Tatos to be a little tight on the shock cord of the Snugpak but I may revisit it as I like the adjustability of it all.

I have ordered in some 3/32 shock cord and a couple ridgeline hooks from Dutch. Going to change out the shock cords for the lighter 3/32 to see if it makes it easier to dial in. Plus the hooks work better with the lighter shock cord.

I have seen some comments about down being better, but have to disagree. Having grown up where 55* and rain being the summer norm. Down will gather moisture and after a few days you will be cold at night. It only takes a couple of cold nights before you would pay much more to be warm.
A canoe or trike to do most of the hauling.
A hammock to take away the bumps at night.
Now that's the way to go.

It may have been mentioned already, but this is a really long thread.

I was curious how the TQ or UQ perform in the 50's and 60's. are they too hot?. I know the UQ con be adjusted, but what about the TQ? I know my 20F TQ is pretty hot and hard to get vented well for that range, especially around 60-65.

Ive laid in my hammock with both the under and top quilt just this past monday at 60-65° and was comfortable. I got a little warm at around 65 but i was wearing a thin sweatshirt.

Thanks. I'm putting together a starter kit to get some friends to try hanging with me in nicer weather. Maybe if I can get them to go, they will like it enough to invest in their own gear. This sounds like a good cheap starter option

I would be comfortable at 50 degrees with the snugpak set.

Every day is a good day.

I took mone down to 26° last night. Was cozy until this morning when it got to around 27° and i started feeling a slight chill. But when i woke up, i realized i was lying and a very weird position that was messing with the quilt and letting some air under me. I was dressed warm but didnt wear my base layers and was actually warmer i think. Just a long sleeve poly/cotton short with a fleece pullover, fleece lined cotton cargos and warm socks. Was comfortable all night.

Went to VT Army Navy today and picked up both an under and top quilt. Hope to try them out soon

I have replaced the side lines with 3/32 shock cord. Plus I am now using the UQ structural ridgeline hooks. Seems to make it easier to dial in. With the lighter shock cords it does not put as much tension on the UQ so you are less likely to compress the insulation. I think this will be my final configuration.
