i believe the single 1.1 and double 1.1 are mosquito proof. the 1.7 is not, i've heard of them biting through the double 1.7 before.
the tradeoff, is that the 1.7 fabric is alot more breathable. of course if you're using any bottom insulation at all, then they're not going to be able to bite through the bottom no matter which one you get.
folks have had great success treating the hammock and other items with premethrin as well.
There's another consideration. Warbonnetguy - you should summarize these points on your website so I know which one to buy...otherwise, I might have to buy one of each! Also, can you explain the diff between line strap and adjustable webbing? Maybe that's explained somewhere on your site, but I couldn't find it.

i guess i have had a misconception of the varying layers---
i was thinking that a 1.7 double layer would hold more weight than a double 1.1 layer---thus the material must be stronger and/or more dense which would mean the pesky needlenose bugs would nto be able to poke through....
Have I had it wrong this whole time?
Apparently so. When HH came out with the ULBPs, the story was that these were at least way more mossy proof than there heavier hammocks. Which seemed opposite how it should be, but there you go. This would go well with what Brandon said about the 1.7 being more breathable, therefore I guess more "open".
a mosquito stinger is way longer than fabric is thick, so the thickness has nothing to do with it. it's the thread count(tighter weave), and generally the lighter fabrics have a higher thread count. 1.1 is often calendared as well so that may have an effect also
