I have used the Dutch bar method and there is some movement when someone is moving around, but that's one of the things I like about hammocks. It does put the little one closet to the ground than having them over you which is good, but the heavier weight (you) will be a bit lower in my experience than the kiddo, but my son could still get out without any trouble.

I did make a 12' x 15' tarp with doors to cover the whole thing. When hanging the bunk bed way, I had the HG Standard and I was down in the wind with the boy up tight to the tarp. It was in the low 30's and the wind wasn't bad, so I slept warm, but if the temp had been lower or their had been more of a breeze, I could see the potential of becoming a popsicle so the wider tarp does a much better job of cutting the side wind.
