You can also buy fusible tape, just cut off the bits you don't want, lay a towel on top to protect the delicate fabric & iron ..

Thank you for thinking about us, but we don't have the time to modify/alter anything other than the items we already do.
I'm sorry we can't help you with this.

Just a personal comment for what it is worth. I like the hood remaining on my sleeping bag as it can provide a level of neck coverage most top quilts don't provide. I'm not saying leave it on. Simly a personal preference you might not have thought about.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

So far I can't find a place to stitch the bag so I will wait on that for now.
Any thing I should worry about when removing a zipper?
I plan to give it a try and if I need more work done then I will find a place that can sew it for me.

+1. I still use bags as my top insulation bc of how much I like having the neck warmth and the hood wraps so easily around to fully keep my head warm and drafts out. I also love the width and comfort of my bags. I actually find the hood to be better and more comfortable when used as a TQ than I ever did when using in reg bag formation. It's like theres down floating all around me with a vent hole I can place anywhere at any size.

IF the zippers are bothering you that much (I never really seem to notice or mind) or you think you will save that much weight, remove those. Other than that, leave the bag as is... Who knows if it will ever come to going to ground and it's good you had a bag. YMMV and HYOH

Well I cut the zipper teeth off of a cheap bag to try it, I just need to try a night in it.

I'm not sure how many "a lot" is, but you might want to consider a homeless shelter in your area for the surplus bags.
