How much volume would I save with a cf ?
Little to none. The savings with cuben is in the weight area. My Old Man Winter tarp ( 12 ft with doors ) weights about 20 oz, my Mamajamba tarp ( 11 ft no doors ) weights 14+ ounces, my HG 12 CF Tarp ( the standard cf tarp with doors ) weights 8 oz.

won a CF tarp at the Florida hang last January

I keep telling OBX that if he forgets and leaves that camo tarp behind, I will make sure it finds a new home.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

I love the Cuban tarps and have had 4 before selling the last 2 and. Going back to the silnylontarps as Cuban does' like me in hot weather or full sunlight hangs and I had 2 completely separate/melt beyond repair. All yu have to do is check back a year or more for the reports/pics. I am hard on Cuban but still love it and wish it could take direct sun lite. Just my 2 cents as I am back on the forum to by a new tarp now. . Silnylon that is what I use from now on regardless of the weight.

Ditto, I am back after quite a long repreive. Updating and adding to the gear pile, new needs and just checking out the latest. I never pulled the trigger on cuben. I don't think I will either. Money is not the issue, I just don't think it fits my needs, however, those keep changing.

Typically I use the CF for backpacking only. This is where it pays to have one. Hands down lighter. It costs too much to have a branch fall on it or some other accident when weight is not an issue. It also gives me an excuse to use all the other tarps I own . Did I mention I love tarps?

Wowsers...In my efforts to get my gear lighter I forgot I can also get myself lighter by just putting the same effort into a healthy diet as I do scouring the cottage websites for nifty solutions. Thanks Crawldaddy!
