Been kickin' the hammock thing around for awhile. I'm getting too old (or the ground is getting harder) to sleep on the ground. I think a hammock is my next option. Hope to learn from you guys.

The sooner you do it the better. You'll not regret it.
If you have the opportunity to borrow some hammocks to try, it's a great way to (cheaply) figure out you preferences...
Welcome !
I'm 52, so I hear you. The ground just kept getting harder and more miserable.
I too am new. That said, moving to a hammock has put me back on the trail and in the woods !
Save yourself some time and get the Ultimate Hang......http://theultimatehang.com
Carry forth.

Whooooo Buddy)))) All Secure in Sector Seven
I had my first night in a hammock the other night. It was 32* and it was the best I ever slept outside. Gonna go out again next weekend, away from my yard.
Watch Shug's videos! I would've been lost trying to get into this without his videos. I actually found out about Shug while looking for Tarptent videos.
Setting up, sleeping and tearing down my hammock rig is so easy on my back!
I also got The Ultimate Hang because of Shug and refer to it often.
welcome I'm 57 and had the same problem I love my hammock and found it to be warmer than I could get in a tent and no more back aches.
