great video shug really nice to see a video...so I have a couple ????'s (well actually a bunch)

    1. Couldent you do the same ridge line under the tarp...(i think i read yes you can in this thread)
    2. Wouldent this create a place to hang gear like mentioned (again yes from what I read in this thread)...
    3. So what if any advantages are their to the ridge line above the tarp...
is this just another option over vs under?...
    4. is over or under taughter then the other?
    5. Any pictures or videos of ridgelines under tarp?
    6. Why cant you just tie two pices of string to each of the O rings (that attatch to the tree) and tie to tree and have no ridgeline at all...then you can adjust laterally?
    7. Dosent a ridge line in reality just add xtra rope?
Thank again shug great video...I cant wait to get my security deposit back in the mail so I can order hammocking toys
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

ridgeline under the tarp might cause a drip hazard being water will travel path of least resistance.

    Just another option really.....
    4. is over or under taughter then the other?
I have never tried the under way .... so that I'm not sure of.
    5. Any pictures or videos of ridgelines under tarp?
    I don't .... sorry 'bout that.
    6. Why cant you just tie two pices of string to each of the O rings (that attatch to the tree) and tie to tree and have no ridgeline at all...then you can adjust laterally?
That is the method I usually do and more than likely will continue too. I was just showing this one since I like making vids and watching me!
    7. Dosent a ridge line in reality just add xtra rope?
Maybe .... but it is negligible in my opinion ..... my back can handle and extra ounce. Me hardy.

In other words, slide the head end prussic towards the center, and the setup would be more "open". This would allow me to rapidly deploy the head end of the tarp in case of wind/rain.
    Thoughts?
That is a really cool option! The hits just keep on comin' in Tarpsville....

    Great video as usual, Shug!

BTW--Footloose with the nose pulled up--that still has me giggling. You are a very perceptive man. Thanks for a hearty belly laugh after a long, tiring day at work!

Thank you Shug for another well put together vid. I learn more from pics and vids that everyone posts on HF.
I prefer ridgeline under the tarp. I use prussics and "S" hooks for ajustments. When I get my tarp setup finished I'll post the pics.

Thanks Shug for taking the time to make the vid! You always make me laugh - keep em comin! I don't even have the time to finish all the words in my sentences!

I just got a SWT myself and have been thinking of the full ridge. look forward to trying it out.

I like your idea of tying the door up to the ridge. When i was fidlin w/ my tarp I thought i'd like to tie this door up out of the way but didn't want to throw the line over to the opposite corner. (since there existed no ridgeline) so i tried tying the door up to the tarps opposite ridge tieout but didn't work as nicely.

After reading about the ridgeline as a clothesline under the tarp I figure i've got to try that and i bet tying the door up under the tarp to the RL would work well if tight enough!

going to get me some RL

oh, and as far as rain following the line under the tarp, - just drop a drip line. No?
