    Another good weekend

I loaded up my "Posse" again this weekend and we went back up to Harmon Creek, (it's close to the house). "Baby Momma", brought home an extra child Friday night (her nephew) so I had my hands full.

This was his first camp out, and his first time fishing. He had some good FTO's. They made him feel right at home.

Tristan was so tired, but he wouldn't give up Saturday night.....

The baby wanted her nap and it wasn't long before we were both konked out..

I had been experimenting with a single tree hang at the house, so I tried it out in the field. My HH Desert Rat was still soaking wet from Friday night's dew, (I slept in it Friday Night at the house) so I used the ENO.

The ground was soaked from all the recent rain that had caused the river to come up several feet, so I figured this was a good place to try it.

    Sarurday evening right before sundown.

Good job on the single tree hang!

What kind of stakes did you use for the pole for the single tree hang?

The pole is 3/4" conduit, 7' long
the tie out ropes are 12'
the stakes are 1/2 conduit 2, feet long. They are just hammered into the ground at a pretty good angle, the ground was pretty soft and they went down approx 14" I drilled a hole about 6" from the top of each stake to be able to slide a tent stake thru to use as a handle to pull them up.
an eye bolt mounted ,to tie the hammock off to and the tie out ropes slide down and rest on the eye bolt.

I used a piece of steel plate and a tent spike as a foot for the pole to keep it from poking down into the ground. The tent spike is just pushed in the ground thru the center hole of the plate approx 3 to 4 ". It holds the pole up temporarily till I get the ropes set out and the hammock tied off. Usually setting a single pole up by yourself is a pain, but now I got my routine down,
pace off the pole distannce, plant the spike, pace off the ropes and plant the stakes, then adjust the pole and tie off the hammock,

The gift of the outdoors, one of the best ways to spend time with you kids. Looks like y'all had a pretty good time. My 8 year old son is a camping junkie and will go anytime he can! Some of my fondest memories of childhood are camping with my Dad and brothers. Now if I could just get them all into hammocks.
