I would say you can't go wrong with the Hennessy Jungle Expedition. Double layer and comes as an all in one with shelter, hammock, bug net, and tree straps. I have been really impressed with mine so far. I know a lot of people love the Warbonnet XLC as well.

Get a Warbonnet, Dreamhammock, Hemmeck, Bone Fire and Amok/Bridge. That way you have all the different gimmicks available (like the shelf in the Warbonnet BB) and can chose for each occasion.

    I'd have:

WB BB XLC (but I wish the zipper configuration could be a bit better...)
DH HyBird (my description is: "a DangerBird on steroids")
DH Sparrow (step up from the ThunderBird in terms of zipper configuration and it does all the Darien does and more and, given the "rules", money's no object so,... why not!)
Dutchware Netless OR DH FreeBird (the Knotty Mods might have me leaning one way)
Amok (but only because, again, money's no object) (but maybe, just maybe, a WB RR instead)

I'd probably also vary the options across the various hammocks.

    Hammeck Envy-S: one-of-a-kind ventable top cover/bug net.

    Warbonnet Blackbird XLC: one-of-a-kind shelf.

Simply Light Designs Trail Lair: the only symmetrical hammock with an integrated top cover.

Simply Light Designs Streamliner: one-of-a-kind cat cut hammock with a particularly flat lay.

Any entry level cottage-manufactured hammock with knotty mods (eg SLD, Dutchware, BIAS).

In no particular order, just as I thought of them...

Amok- Very cool design and different than the rest.

WB XLC- This is the WBBB style, a great design in it's own right with a footbox, with removable bugnet that makes it as a standard gathered end Traveler and with the overcover.

DH Sparrow- Bugnet AND Overcover that are both removable with easy reach zippers? And no dedicated head/foot end so I get to choose? A winner.

Dutch Half Wit- Knotty Mod gathered end with an integrated half bugnet. Yup.

Any of the Down Hammocks like those from Bonefire, Sheltowee, Insulhammock, etc.- A Down filled hammock is not to be passed up for the "cool" factor and no fiddle factor for insulation.

An Honorable mention and/or replacement for above down filled hammocks: WBRR- A true bridge style hammock with removeable bugnet and saddlebags for storage. My wife's first choice do to her Restless Leg Syndrome since she can't be comfortable in a gathered end.

    Just my choices...
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

    Here's my stab at it...

WBBB XLC - Because i have one and it's awesome!

Clark NX-270 - I'm intrigued by this hammock and trying to learn more about it. For some reason it's not talked about a lot.

Dream Hammock Sparrow - I'd like to pick the colors and set up

Hammeck Envy S - The Peekaboo cover is a great idea

WB Ridge Runner - I'd like to try a Bridge
