    Can You Identify This Scat?

I went on a S24O with my daughter to celebrate Veterans Day. She slept in the tent, and I in my hammock. It was a cool 28°F (-2°C) overnight, and I stayed fairly warm using my 35°F Kelty Galactic down bag used as pull-up insulation. Inside, I had a short torso-sized closed-cell foam pad and a small sit pad for my feet.

The next day, we did some hiking down Sandy's Canyon and Le Petit Verdon near Walnut Creek. We discovered several animal latrines and I wanted to find out what animal left this scat. I'm thinking it is raccoon.

Any of my Arizona friends out there who can identify this scat?

Dejoha, I don't think I ever hiked near Walnut Creek for some reason, though I know where it is. Regardless, I am green with envy. It just looks like good old Mogollon Rim/Flagstaff type country, with lots of great camp sites.

Looks like you made yourself a Pea Pod? Good going!

Two of them are hiding their faces... I don't recognize the third one.

Thank you dejoha and Jerry W for the S24O by Grant Peterson.

Just what a city locked woods dreamer and bike rider needs to read.

Can't bike camp out of my city ( NYC ) but inspires one to convince my husband
to drive an hour out to the woods and S24O.

Yes, this was a pretty spot, although we didn't really know it until the next day. We set up camp at 10 PM and it was pitch dark. The next day we explored down the canyon, which had more picturesque campsites than what we picked. The canyon was amazing!

When I first read Jerry's post, It really inspired me too. I've gone on a few S24O's already and they're a lot of fun. The only dangerous part I've found is that I'm now considering stealth camping in the woods near my home, which are technically 'off-limits' to camping since it is within city limits. The law-abiding citizen inside me is still winning, but I've already scoped out a few prime locations...

Dejoha, you are so lucky to live in such a wonderful place. N. AZ is about my favorite. Close to GC, alpine foerest, and many other attractions. I am very partial to the canyonlands, but they are not the best for hammocks.
