    New 2 mm line

    I was looking to replace the Samson 2 mm Zing-It I am getting low on and in my searches for the best price ran across another 2 mm line to try: New England Ropes 2 mm Dynaglide.

    The specs on this stuff are awesome: 1,000 lbs tensile strength. That is approximately double the specs on the 2 mm Zing-It. The weight is 0.1 oz/100' or 0.016 oz/ft. This is slightly less than the Zing-It which Samson specs at 0.12 oz/100'

    The description:
    Highly visible snag free throwline made from 100% HMPE (High Modulus Polyethylene) that is pre-stretched and tensile-set then treated with a vinyl coating. Compact design glides easily over branches allowing lighter throw weights

    Features:

    * Very high strength
    * Very low stretch
    * Coating improves abrasion resistance and provides color coding capabilities
    * Slick finish glides effortlessly over bark
    It is Dyneema, SK-75.

    The pre-stretching is the secret to it's high tensile strength.

    I'm always looking for the smallest diameter, highest strength I can get and so far this stuff is it.

    Just got the 200' hank in today and am very impressed.

    Anybody that has the 2 mm Zing-It or the BPL 2 mm Bear bag hanging stuff (same thing) is familiar with the stiffness brand new.

    The Dynaglide has a much softer feel.

    New England Ropes seems to be selling it for the Arborists and so the only colors I could find are fluorescent orange or green. I got the fluorescent green. It is bright, but actually I like it.

    It is 12 strand braided, so it splices very nicely.

    I think it will probably hold knots as well as the 2 mm Zing-It.

    I have been working on getting that line in to add to my selection but New England has there head up their orifice and will not return calls and hangs up when they try to connect me to a sales rep. By trying for over a month, left messages and more messages but they can's seem to operate a phone to make an easy sale. Got one of my suppliers trying to get through to them to try and get it in for me but he has not had any better luck than I have. Tee Dee where did you get yours from, I have seen it several places and the price seems to very to a huge degree. from what I think would be reasonable to 2-3 times as much.

    New Egland 2mm pricing

    I too found the pricing to be almost acceptable to out of this world! And then you have to throw in shipping cost. Where is the best place to go for 200' of orange 2mm Dynaglide?
    Acercanto, can you help us...you are an arborist..what gives. And can you actually splice it, that would be nice for tarp tie outs.

    Thats why I would love to get it in, IF New England could see it in there hart to sell some product, I think I could offer a better price than most of the other guys out there and I am trying to be reasonable on the shipping.

    Well, DUH! What wouldn't? Zing-It is slipperyer than owl poo!

    It's strong, though. Good for pulling tractors out of the bog.

    Both. For the tarp I like the Lash-It/Zing-It for the tarp ridge line cord - light and strong. I'm thinking this may replace the Lash-It for the tarp ridge line cord.

    For my suspension, I use my MSLS which has Whoopie slings on both ends from Samson AS-78 and 1.75 mm Lash-It for the ridge line in the middle.

    Rechecked the weight specs. New England Ropes specs the weight of the Dynaglide at 0.1 oz/100'. Samson specs the Zing-It at 0.12 oz/100' for the 1.75 mm and 0.16 oz/100' for the 2 mm.

    So the Dynaglide is not only lighter but much stronger, 1,000 for the Dynaglide vs 650 for the 2 mm Zing-It.

    Samson and New England Ropes are pushing their ropes stronger and lighter all the time.

    I wonder if Samson will now be forced to introduced a new Zing-It that is pre-stretched to compete?
