    Hammocking at campgrounds

does anyone ever hang at campgrounds or just trails. North Dakota does not have many hiking trails and i"m looking for places to hang in the Minnesotta/ North Dakota area. Has anyone ever had any problems with a hammock at a campground? Any ideas on places to hang are appreciated

Michigan State Parks did not seem to care last summer, but each state is different. I know lots of folks here have hung in the BWCA. And the SHT. You could always hang from the giant hay bales in ND

    Campgrounds

I mainly camp/hang at local State parks, not only are the generally less expensive than private campgrounds, I like to give my money to the state parks! They have a hard enough of a time getting money appropriated for maintenance. As far as problems go, I've never had any, more curiosity than anything. Get on the national forest site, and see if they have any designated campgrounds also!! Good luck!

Call before you leave I have found some parks do not allow hammocks.

    Parks

I haven't had a problem hanging in the state parks in Iowa or Minnesota.

If you're gonna be in a campground, you'll probably be car camping, right? Might be worth looking into a portable hammock stand that you can take with you - leave it in the car if you have trees to hang from and are allowed, but it would sure be a nice backup.

Standing Indian Campgound near Franklin, NC isn't particularly hammock friendly. Avoid it if you can.

If I'm car camping there's only a few different places I go. So far no problems at any of them.

Haven't had problems yet in Arizona, New Jersey, North Carolina or Pennsylvania parks... a few odd looks but no problems. Do a little research and be ready to sleep well

I haven't had a problem at the state park I usually go to here in GA.

One thing I do try to do though, when setting up...

I try to orient my tarp in such a way that at first glance, my tarp looks very much like a tent, or just a tarp. Sometimes I wait to set up my hammock until amost dark.
