    Tarp ridgeline

New guy on the block here looking at gear and have a question. I noticed when ordering a tarp from some vendors you have the option to get a tarp ridge line or not. I would think you would have to have a ridge line in order to hang a tarp. How can you hang a tarp without a ridge line sewn in?

I think you're misinterpreting what they're saying. You will need a tarp ridgeline, which is usually Zing-It 1.75 mm cord. You can go with a continous ridgeline, which is usually 30 to 35 feet, and the tarp attaches to that ridgeline, usually via soft shackle prusiks (also made from 1.75 mm Zing-It).

Or you can have a non-continuous ridgeline, which is two pieces of rope, each connected to the rings on the ends of the tarp ridgeline. I personally prefer continuous ridgelines, using the soft shackle prusiks to slide and center the tarp.

Ah. So on this page http://wildernesslogics.com/Oldman-W...man-Winter.htm they are referring to the cord and not what is sewn onto the tarp. I've got a lot to learn.

Actually, that page says that no cord is provided. What you're choosing from is the length of the tarp, 132", 144" or 156". Down at the bottom they also allow you to order a tarp ridgeline for $25, but I don't know if it's continuous or non-continuous.
