Hammock Sides Very Loose and Head Rolls Off.

Ok so I made my own hammock. It measures 10'8" long and 60" wide. I am 6'3". My adjustable structural ridge line is set at 106" and I can get a pretty flat lay. The problems is the side of the hammock that my head rest at is very loose and my head has no support and will roll off if I turn my head outwards and off the edge. I don't have this problem at the foot end. I though about adding the knotty mod but to take up the loose fabric. Will this give my head the support I need to lay comfortably. Also would a wider hammock have more area and therefore give more support for my head?
    Thanks!!

Are the ends whipped or did you sew end channels?

A knotty mod might help just by bringing th level of the fabric up. Of course, it might also just mash th fabric up into your face. Could you get someone to take a pic of you laying in it? That might help people give you advice.

I think you're laying too close to the edge of the fabric. Try laying a little less diagonal, and increasing your ridgeline length a little.

I found I was more comfortable in my hammock by lengthening my ridge line a bit, too. Conventional wisdom says more sag = more comfort, but to each his own.

Also, are you hanging your hammock so that your feet are slightly elevated above your head? I have found that makes a huge difference. When I elevated my feet more (thanks to advice from a Shug video) and scooted down farther in the hammock, I got a much better lay with my head not so close to my hammock edge. Still, I don't think these things should be necessary to keep your head from falling off.

The knotty mod should help keep the edges from being so loose. I would try changing the ridge line length to see if that will help make it shorter and longer. Foot end elevated helped me.

Thanks everyone so far for the suggestions. I will mess around with the ridge line adjustment as well as adding a knotty mod. It is a good thing I made an adjustable structural ridgeline. Any suggestions as to the placement of the knotty mod, distance from center?

Hate it when my head rolls off. Would be better if the eyes stayed on the part of me that's still in the hammock.

For the foot side, just find where your feet rest comfortably, and go about a foot or more from either side of that point for the beginning and end of the knotty mod. I'm not sure about head side. Maybe the same thing, using your head as center? I'll keep watching for what other people say. I'm thinking about putting on a head-side knotty mod myself.
