I used xtrekkers method on the second hammock. It worked ok, but not as good as what I did on the first. On that one, with the zipper sewed onto the hammock and the tie outs staked off, drape the mesh across the ridgeline and hammock. Then start pinning around the perimeter. Don't pull tight, but rather pin it with no wrinkles. Now, carefully unzip and get into the hammock. Using safety pins may be better to keep pins from popping out. Lay how you normally would and then check for areas that are too tight or have weird wrinkles. Get out and adjust those areas. It may take a couple tries to get it where you like it. When its where you want it. Go around the entire perimeter and loosen each pin a 1/4 inch, so that there is some room for stretch and then trim off excess material with scissors. You're ready to sew. Hope this helps.
