Show me your Winter Dream tarps

    Guys,
I'm still looking for a tarp. I want a 12' tarp with doors and would love to see some Winter Dream pictures if you have them.

Nice looking tarp. I'm trying to figure out what the center pole mode is. Is this an internal flexible fiberglass poll that goes in the middle of the tarp? What are the advantages/disadvantages to internal polls vs external?

I have not used either of the internal pole mods (center or end) but from what I understand there are pockets on the inside of the tarp that the ends of the poles fit into. The center uses one pole and the ends can use two, I think. I would think that the poles are fiberglass so that they can bend and give shape to the inside of the tarp.

I used the external poles, which are four sections each, shock corded together. Each section is 13" so they fit nicely along the side of my Ohm pack. I like how the external poles work and I am real happy with them. I do not know if there are any real advantages of one over the other as I have not used the internal poles. I am still fairly new at this.

I am not sure how small the fiberglass pole sections are. Maybe someone that is using these will chime in soon.

Definitely want to see more pics of the pole mod options! Diagrams don't do it for me. How do those 13" poles work? Two slotted together in the middle?

My external pole mod consists of two poles that are about 52". Each pole is made from four 13" sections that have male and female ends so that they fit together. The four sections are shock corded together and have a finished end that the loop of the dogbone can attach to. I use four dogbones made from zing-it that are attached to the center pull outs on the tarp. The poles go over my continuous ridge line and attach to the dogbones on each side.

Here's my 12 foot Winter Haven from Jared at Simply Light Designs. It has served me well in a variety of conditions. I made up my own poles and rigged them with zingit and prussicks.uploadfromtaptalk1451618074803.jpg

I have the Winter Dream with two pole mod. It has grommets on the sides for the pole ends to fit in. The poles push the tarp out instead of pulling it out, providing much more room on the inside. The poles, when assembled, are longer than the dimensions of the tarp. They create an arc, which forces the sides of the tarp out and up. Sort of like a covered wagon. With the additional tie outs, you can use them with hiking poles for an external pull out. I don’t have any photos that really show this off. I will be at HangCon 2016 and take lots of photos, if not a video for you. If you can make it to the hang, you would be able to see many different tarps and the different Winter Dream options.

Thanks for the pictures, one of the things I'm mostly concerned with is, packability of the poles, so seeing them unassembled would be very beneficial!!
