has anyone ever heard of a Pfaff 230... My grandmother has one and its like cast iron and all metal internals. it even has a fan belt on the outside... anyone know what something like this would go for. my grandmother is saying she bought it in like 1940. i'm not trying to sell or anything but it looks liek something i would want to start using to make my own gear but i dont want to break the thing...

Pfaff as a brand is excellent. Don't know that particular model but I would think it would be good.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Sounds like a good machine to me. Maybe work with her for a few days and she can show you the ins and outs of the machine. Experience is the best teacher tho, so get your hands wet, and start making some gear

Besides, it'll be some good quality time with grandma. She'll love passing on her knowledge.

Does it look like this one? Might be better than some of the new machines. Use it and report back. It looks super rugged, I would jump at the opportunity.

I bought me a machne Saturday at a yard sale for 20 bucks. Now i just need to learn how to use it. It was nothing fancy, but all I need is a straight stich and zig zag and forward/reverse and it has that. I will be taking lesson Thanksgiving weekend.
