    Sewing Machine?

The bug too has hit me...I am about to break down and buy a sewing machine aka "thread injector", but I don't know which to get?
I was looking at big names like Singer, Brother, and Kenmore because of their names, obviously. The models I was looking at were around $100 and had just a few features. I figured that I would only be using a few stitches anyway. Plus I am frugal and don't want to spend an arm and a leg with another one on the way.
Is this the right train of thought to get a simple one?
Which "thread injector" is everyone else using?

I use and old Japanese Kenmore that I found used at a sewing machine store for $49. It is all metal and weighs a ton. Did a cleanup and lube and it has worked flawlessly. You really don't need more than forward/reverse with straight and zigzag stitches.
When it goes over their heads, it really doesn't matter how high it is.

Check out your local thrift stores. I scored on a perfectly working but old Singer 15-91 for I think it was $39.00. These pre-WWII machines seem to be built with a high degree of craftsmanship using quality materials. Limited to straight stitch forward and reverse. Also check your local community of quilter/sewing people. Some of these people may have a "dated" machine sitting in storage that they may be willing to part with.

With the economy being tough, some are selling their 2nd sewing machines. Look for a well known brand.

At the very least turn the machine over and look to see of the gears are metal or plastic/nylon- hold out for all metal construction, if you can.
