I'm 6'5 350 lbs I've been in search of the same relief with the ridge but I've been using a GT Double

Head set lower helped some.... my Ridgeline is 78 percent of length and it helped.

I finally got rid of 95% of it with 2 additional changes... longer... 11 foot helped some 12 feet is nice
For the gather end I did an inverted cat cut of 5 inchs... increasing the center sag of the hammock .. 5 inch height on the curve.
    Very very comfy

I hadn't thought of reverse cat cutting an end, great idea. May have to try that on the next diy

I use the https://www.bigagnes.com/Products/De...rviewAirPillow rolled up in my clothes stuff sack behind my knees. It's an extra 3 ounces, but well worth it.

Generally you want to lay as close to the head end as possible, which requires having the foot end alot higher. in general you want your chin about even with the farthest side tieout. The farther away your knees are from the foot end the better, the closer they are to it the more the fabric will bunch under your knees, hanging the head end much lower allows you to get farther away from the area where the fabric easily folds under itself creating the ridge. Try foot end about 16" higher

this is (or a version of) what Jared of Simply Light Designs does with his streamliner hammock. Cat cuts the ends and the sides to cut down on calf ridge and the walled in feeling you can get. It's a hammock I love for those two features, so they must be on to something with the cat cuts.

I worked for several hours with different heights and positions and could not get rid of the calf ridge on my XLC. Plus my shoulder would slide up on to the bug netting if I moved any at all. Then the zipper which is hard to reach anyways kept getting stuck on the loose second layer. As a test I immediately strung my Grand Trunk Skeeter Beater and got inside. The difference in comfort was immediate in the Grand Trunk. It's softer and has no calf ridge plus my shoulder fits down in the hammock. I sadly sent my Blackbird back.
