    Any experiences with Nunatak?

Just wondering on your experiences with nunatak's products. Ordered some down booties 3 weeks ago so I contacted them and said it will be about another 4-6 weeks for delivery.

    Good quality products? small operation?

    Just wondering.

    Raul

i just went backpacking with a guy who was using a nunatak quilt. looked amazing... i'm sure what you're getting is most definitely worth the wait.

yeah I'm just concerned because I got burned from a small operation vendor and waited 4 months to receive my goods last year. Kinda just wanted some comfort from others that ordered from them as well to see of this was the norm for this vendor

Halpin in a stand up guy

I've got 4 of his quilts, pants, balaclava, etc.
Yes you will have to wait and wait and wait.....
The products are excellent though, just remember each one is made after you order.

the thing to remember with nunatak is that it is completely custom...you want a freeky baffle size, differential or non-differential, whatever and he'll see to it.
What I don't understand is that he has never tried to market to hangers which is a shame because the quilts are nice---though not perfect for hammocking. I say not perfect for hammocking only because there is a lot of material width wise in a typical nunatak quilt that simply is not needed in the hammock. This is not wasted though because it can still be put above you/your arms...but this is a perfect time for when nunatak shines, but you have to know the measurements you want and they will make it exactly like you order. I used his quilts long before I got into hanging but before they I used a Rab Top Bag...I've had to go to ground after becoming a hanger and still use the nunatak quilts.....one one trip this year I used the Arc AT and a down parka (Western Mountaineering Flash) and what a sweet comination....the parka (12oz) as campwear and sleepwear, the Arc AT as a half-bag (or half quilt rather); couple that with a yeti and think of the weight savings---so via nunatak you can have half top quilt (its actually longer than 1/2 by the way) and via the yeti or jrb you or ta-wa (sp?) you can have half UQ....

I've sort of gathered that he doesn't know a lot about hammocking. I understand he made quilts and bags for several years before he finally got a clue about the obvious.

I'm hoping some decent hammock quilts come out someday.

My daughter doesn't know it yet but she's getting a Nunatak Raku for Christmas. That thing is really nice. Interesting tid bit, the guy who designs the Nunatak gear used to work for Feathered Friends, there is a bit of a rivalry there.

I didn't realize that. He seems to insinuate that FF are just mass produced and inferior. How come he didn't learn how to make a bag there? It took him several years on his own to figure out the obvious.
