You must be in pretty good shape if you think you're going to do 20 mile days, at least consistently. A buddy and I did one 21 mile day while hiking sec's 8-11 last year. I'll never do that again unless it's an emergency.
Its just a plan ive walked more and walked less. We shall see
Glad to see a fellow hammocker taking to the CT this summer.
I plan to be out there starting July 1st, southbound. After studying Google Earth of the Trail, I think we are good for hammocks the whole way if your willing to go off trail a little in the alpine sections near the end. That said I'm planning a go-to-ground fallback option, too. I hammock camped the entire PCT two years ago and went to ground twice. Once was just no place to hang and the other was due to too much wind. Still, I had to get creative for that first 700 miles of dessert. But that's part of the fun. Good Luck and Happy Trails!

Thats awesome thanks for the heads up from google earth i am gonna bring two trek poles to pitch with my tarp as a fall back like you said...good luck to you too happy trails
