    Dutch Hammock choices

I am wanting to buy a new single layer hammock and I am looking at the Dutch single layer 11 foot hammocks and trying to narrow down fabric choices. I have a DIY double layer 1.9 that I'm pretty comfortable in but wanting to get a single layer that's relatively low stretch and might be similar stretch to the double layer 1.9 but lighter weight. Would the hexon 2.4 be a choice that would be a low stretch fabric but still be lighter than a double layer 1.9? Or would poly d be a safer choice for a lower stretch hammock. I have a DIY single layer 1.9 nylon multicam hammock that stretches like crazy and I can't get comfortable in it. So I know I don't like a stretchy hammock. I weigh 210 -215 depending on time of year and am 5'11".

The Dobby is a weave of polyester and nylon. It doesn't have much stretch at all however the Hexon 2.4 will have less stretch at your weight, I would say both would fit the bill.

I got a single layer 1.6 Hexon 11' from Dutch a few months ago. I love it. Simple, light and for me (6'4" 285) absolutely no calf ridge. I don't see how a hammock could be more comfortable.

I have to agree. I got my Dutch 11' hammock this summer and it's fantastic.

I'm 5'10, wide shoulders and weigh in at 250.

I got one of his bug nets as well and that's what I used over the summer and fall.

I have one of Dutch's hexon 2.4 hammocks. 6'4" 215 lbs and it is really comfortable. I'd recommend the knotty mod. Been hanging a lot indoors lately.

Hexon 2.4oz. One of the nicest fabrics out there. It still has a tiny bit of stretch (similar to 1.9oz ripstop nylon, which I love, too), which makes it more comfortable than the PolyD. It also feels nice to the touch.

Sounds like the 2.4 hexon is a good place to start for what I am shooting for. Thanks for all the feedback.

Am I correct that Poly D is the lowest stretch fabric of all current options?

The 2.4 Hexon is robust but, it is fairly bulky relative to the other Dutch hammocks I have tried. Might the 1.6 Hexon be a better choice?

I bought the 2.4 Hexon because occasionally the whole family wants to pile in to the hammock in the back yard. The 400 pound capacity was the key spec. I never use this hammock on the trail or when alone.

It might be more than I need to achieve the results I am looking for. My objectives are lighter weight than a double layer 1.9 nylon and less stretch than a single later of 1.9oz nylon. So even if the 2.4 was almost as heavy and bulky as the DL 1.9 it would be a step in the right direction. I almost think I might like the near zero stretch of poly d but it sounds like it's a little too non-stretchy for most folks. I ordered 4 yards of the 2.2 hex XL from rsbtr to try the extra wides spect at the same time. If it hits the mark good and if it's not what I am looking for I think I might try the Dobby from Dutch. I like my DL 1.9 just fine but if I can cut some weight with a single layer I'm all for that too as long as I can maintain the comfort.
