Full-Length DIY CS Apex 5.0 UQ Build Plans

Here is the build plan for the CS Apex 5.0 UQ I just put together this past weekend. Plans are overly detailed. If I had it to do over again, I would have sewn the shockcord channels to the outer shell first, then stacked all the material together for a final stitching. Also, I'm not fully convinced the darts were even needed. Regardless, the end product turned out well. Haven't had a chance to use it or get specs on it yet.

Those are an exceptional set of plans that you created. I have a feeling these are going to be referenced by a great deal of people that undertake a project like this.

I second that. Awesome plans! In fact, they are the best I've seen for any DIY hammock-oriented project. Thanks FLScouthanger for taking the time to make them and share them!

Question 1: What is the reason for the 1 inch gap in the shock cord channel on the short ends?

Question 2: If you were to omit the darts, would you just make the outer shell a bit larger than the inner shell?

A1: The gap is for the space that would be taken up by the cordlock(s)
A2: Yes, I would omit the darts and just add a slight amount to the outer shell

Very nice plans.Wish I had seen them sooner.I just completed similar but with 7.5 CS and no darts and the 1 thing I'd do different too is sew the channels to the shell first as well.

Very nice. Thank you for the plans..... I notice you're in Crestview. I'm just west of you in Pace. I do a lot of overnights in the Blackwater management area. If you're ever out that way let me know.

Sounds good. I like to go to Blackwater as well. Normally go to Bear Lake (primitive) or Hurricane when I go there. Also hit the Eglin reservation periodically (Jr Walton or Speck Pond areas).

Great plans. I'd love to see a pic of the final product.
I would rather be in the woods... my dog would rather be in the pool. My wife thinks we are both nuts.

Why sew the channels first as opposed to all layers at once?

Also - the darts - What's the final opinion here?
I've made a few CS underquilts now, all just rectangle, and it sort of seems that darts would be beneficial.
I mean, I've managed to solve any issues with secondary suspension, etc., but they all look like there's one or two spots that simply have 'extra' material.
