Sweet, guess you are prepping for some cold weather. Did you sew the two quilts together for the TQ and if so did you find it necessary to offset the rows? I plan on a DL too, but I think i'm going to add some snaps or buttons in the footbox so I can use one or both if needed.
I would rather be in the woods... my dog would rather be in the pool. My wife thinks we are both nuts.

ya i sewed the two together and slightly offset the rows. Despite my seriously lackluster sewing skills it actually came out pretty professional lookng.

A surprising amount of air sits between the two layers,... i was really impressed at how the finish product looks and feels.

Just finished my first real DIY project. A no-sew modular system.

Used 2 Costco quilts, and snaps to join them end to end. More snaps at the opposites ends. The 2 quilts sit over my Ridgeline and create basically an insulated sock without a bottom.

If you disconnect the 2 quilts, I have snaps along the bottom of the 2 quilts to turn them both into top quilts. Those 2 quilts, using the same snaps as the half-sock set up, then can snap together as one thick top quilt.

Will hopefully get a video and pictures too since it's hard to describe well.

Detail of my Costco top quilt footbox. Basically a 9 square by 9 square cube. I narrowed the stock throw by cutting off a 3 square wide length, used part of it for the footbox, and sewed the rest to the head end of the top quilt for more length.

Did you take pics yet? I just built my first TQ and had the same idea of attaching another one to allow for lower temps. I would love to see how you attached your snaps, I am thinking some reinforcement is required.

Just made and edited a video today. I'll hopefully do a proper write up on this. Decided to come up with a ridiculous name for it as well.

I call it the GOMHAQS. The Gomer Original Modular Hammock Adaptable Quilt System. Just pronounce it "gomax". I know it kind of sounds like a brand name for prostate medication.

Anyways, kind of just an odd idea I had, and ended up kind of cool.

Next step is making the whole GOMHAQS able to adapt into an underquilt, which I may just do tomorrow.

    YouTube video is here :

Will probably do a separate thread once I figure out the UQ part of it.

UPDATE: worked out a system today to turn the GOMHAQS into a single, and double underquilt. Just needed a little shock cord and cord locks. Video HERE https://youtu.be/6ff-Bwzq0Uo

I just had DiyGuy83, one of the other members on here, make me a top quilt. he did a fantastic job it looks great and well made. If you have a quilt and don't think you can do the project ask him - his price is reasonable and great quality.
