Did you experience any damage to the cars or hammock gear?

No, not at all! My Forester even has a "moon roof" the whoopie in the front door went over which laid just slightly above the glass. I did bring some 4" strips of CCF strips with me in case it looked like I needed abrasion protection on the new Subaru - but nothing seemed to be a problem. Part of that, I'm pretty sure, is because the free-air cordage distance is so short, there's not a lot of swing in the hammock… kind of a bummer for me, but really nice for the vehicle
