    Thanks
I started my tarp making with the blue sil-nylon, not too bad to work with, but compared to new fabrics bulky and heavy.
I jumped on the sil-argon when Dutch offered it. I loved the weight and bulk, but working with it was a royal pain. I normally do not pin much when I sew, and when I got to the end of the ridge seam the bottom fabric had stretched over 4 inches due to the feed dogs pulling the fabric. I had to rip the whole seam out and then pin it and re-sew it.
The main issue with the membrane fabric waa the problem seam sealing it. I was successful by making my own sealant (thin) and applying it to just the threads.
The Xenon was the easiest to work with and I am amazed at how small my winter tarp packs. This is the current winner until Dutch comes out with the next version.

Dutches being almost good \brown and rsbtr being almost black.

Ta guys, your seriously not helping dissuade me from spending my hard earned cash lol
The original build thread I did used the dark olive: https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ane+dark+olive

The color lightens up a good bit once it's hung up. Our olive brown is seriously close to black, but comes out as a nice deep brown once it's in the sun.

You should not have any issue sealing using seam grip on the PU side. If you already have sil net, you can also seal the sil/PU side with success. There is a vendor that does it that way without issue.

    Hope that helps!

Good thing you're in the UK where trespass apparently isn't illegal, and not on WhiteBlaze.net, where discussing how to get away with illegal acts is ... verboten.

And hiker-land owner relations are highly regarded ... for the most part.

Anything drab is good so long as your placement it solid. A drab color, broken by outlines of other brush, well off of trails and not skylighted should work fine. Olive Drab, Olive Brown, Coyote, all should work if your placement is good.

Heh didn't think I'd get you on this thread Kyle

OK, so dark olive isn't the super dark / black one. That's really helpful.
Probably is the winner then from the photos of the one you made.

    Thanks

Well them I will stick to questions of aesthetic instead of legality just to be on the safe side.

Besides, my desire for stealth is more about being unobtrusive and to not be bothered by tourists if they happen to wander near.

Sometimes you just can't hide, as a search and rescue dog in training showed me very early in my wild camping experiences.

He was very excited to find me and his handlers had to reward him as I was exactly like the actual subject they were looking for. They couldn't care less that id been camping, but were disappointed I wasn't their goal lol

Met them later on in my trek and found out it was the Dogs qualification day \exam.
