Mod Question, SNUGPAK All weather shelter.

I am going to use the SnugPak all weather shelter as my tarp for a while, well until I can afford a more specific tarp. They only have grommets on the corners and I cannot use an A frame configuration. If I use gorilla tape then put a grommet through the tape, will that be enough to strengthen the fabric at the grommets so I can attach to a ridge line?

If you run the ridgeline under the tarp for support and prusik knot where the grommets are just don't pull them too tight. Let the ridgeline carry the load. I know the gorilla tape is pretty tough stuff and should work. Stinks you have to cut into a good tarp.

Why not just hang it in a diamond?

This is what I ended up doing.

I do use the diamond configuration, but sometimes that is not the best choice. I wanted another config choice.

A diamond with two tie outs is a pretty robust option from a 9.5X9.5 tarp. I find the longer ridgeline to be of greater benefit than longer sides. If the weather gets rough, I just hang my hammock closer to the ridgeline and avoid most of the mess. JRB has their 8X8 that accomplishes the same.
