We use 14' for each. We have made some little tweaks over the years but basically making them the same as when we introduced Whoopies for sale to the hammock world over 6 years ago. You can stil make perfectly functional slings from your 20 feet.. You just might need trees that are a little closer together and or carry a little more tree strap length

Thanks for all the feedback and links, guys! Once the amsteel arrives, we'll be able to start working on this and see how it turns out. I'll likely be ordering more of this stuff since I'm gonna need a set or 2 for my own rigs later on anyhow. Getting a full spool probably wouldn't be a bad idea. Typically speaking, once I start tweaking with something, I'll obsess over it for quite a while, so the more amsteel to play with, the better. Haha

can make whoopee sling out of 20' just be a little shorter (less adjustment) but they would be just right if you use tree's that are closer then 20' apart. and ANY length whoopee's are better then none

I used 12' (half of 25') for my set up, and I think 9' or 10' for my son's. Seems to be fine on both applications.
I use the excess to tie around other rigging to act as a "drip line".
I'm still in "beta" right now however, and am constantly tweaking with everything...

Here's some pics of the current rigging

If you're using them with 9' tree straps like you said then the shorter length of the whoopies won't make a difference abyhow. 9' Id plenty long for tree straps

Mine is less because I don't use that much bury. With the locked brummel I don't think I can slip loose. 4" for the loop and usually less than 2" in the bury.

That will probably hold for a long, long time but be aware that the strength is in the bury, not the locked brummel, with a spliced eye. The locked brummel is insurance that the bury stays put, in reality it's not very strong on its own.

I thought that a 100 foot would be good for me! Then came making loopies and different size whoopies so here comes another 100 foot!! Started picking up more hammocks, more whoopies more loopies, and after the third 100 foot order I said, I think I have enough. Or do I?????
My ego said, SURE you can.
Half way in my body said OH NO YOU CAN'T

I can definitely relate to that. I tend to do the same kinda thing with all my gear. Constantly fiddling with things, changing setups, adding more options, changing stuff again... It's a never-ending ordeal. Compared to a lot of people I've talked to, I'm not doing too bad with that sorta thing (yet). I've dumped upwards of $2,000 in backpacking gear over the last couple years, and I'm probably going to dump close to another grand into this hammock camping stuff this year. These hobbies we have sure can get pricey, but ya can't worry too much about the price of something that brings so much joy and peace to your life.
