    Storing a hammock

    Greetings,

What is the best way to store your hammock at home when you are not camping? I have a Hennessy hammock and I am tempted to keep it in the snakeskins after I've let it air dry in my basement for a few days. Would i be better served by rolling it up and stuffing it back into the sack from which it came and reserve the snakeskins for field use?

    Thanks.

Personally, I leave mine in the snakeskins all the time (as long as the hammock isn't wet, anyway) stuffed into the bag that I carry it in along with the tarp seperately. It doesn't have any lofting material in it (like down) so I see no harm in it. JMO.

Both my Hennessy hammocks are kept in snakeskins after drying out after camping. No problems.

Thanks for confirming what I had suspected. It never hurts to seek the wisdom of the forum though.

I keep mine hung from a couple non-load-bearing hooks in a spare room. Only because I'm constantly tinkering with it, though...nothing to do with some preferred storage method. As long as a hammock is kept dry and bug-free, it should be fine any way you want to store it.

I just stuff mine in a box. Sometimes it's in the bag and sometimes it's not. But I always air it out for at least a day...if I've sweated in it, I leave it up for longer.
