Are there any group hangouts planned for Winchester, VA or Harpers Ferry, WV? Brand new to hammock camping and was hoping to see some examples before taking the financial plunge. Thinking of a Warbonnet Blackbird XLC. If anyone knows of any upcoming hangouts in the area or have a link to a thread already addressing this area, please let me know. I appreciate the help.
I and another HF member live in Charles Town, we met up and camped out at Sleepy Creek Wilderness Area (just West of Martinsburg) a few weeks ago which was a great spot. He and I have different brands of gear so you could have a good opportunity to see/try a variety of brands and configurations. I was thinking of getting some local HF people together for a small group hang there, not sure when but will let you know if I do. Hit me up if you have any questions.
Bears Den along the AT is a great place.
Ditto what locknload said....Next time we go out there, we will let you know so you can check it out. I have a spare hammock or two you could use while there, but only one set of quilts, so you would need to find those somewhere else in order to keep warm....that is if you wanted to hang for the night. There is plenty of flat ground to tent camp, also.
