your food will be fine other than a raccoon or a mouse might try and get it, neither has every happened to me though.....the weather is september is usually pretty dry although you can never rule out thunderstorms

not sure about the parking lot for the lake but the lodge is just on the other side of the lake, i'm sure you could park there without a problem, you can give custer state park 888.875.0001 a call to make sure

I was able to park in the lot by Sylvan lake overnight. Just have to have a park pass.
