To codiak I got your down eductor, very smart way of doing it as a siphon but the only part I don't think I understand is the kitchen drain part. Maybe I'm just not thinking clearly on this but I don't understand a kitchen drain. And if you soak it in down wash and stuff it while it's wet, are you just guesstimating on how much down you're putting in each baffle?

I've been saving all my old down and wondered how the heck I could collect it without making too much mess. Thanks for the great advice.

When working with down I wear a nylon windshirt and pants because the down doesn't stick to them as much.

Kitchen drain to collect down is just a pvc pipe with one opening on a side and two openings on the other side. This allows you to connect 2 pipes into 1 pipe.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

You can guestimate, I did my first filling based on compressed volume when filled.

Or you can put the out billing filled on a scale.... or the down source bag on a scale... I suggest the latter

I didnot invent the eductor just found it a tool that solves a problem.

The drain piece mentioned internally has a baffle that prevents back flow
Your local hardware shop will have a all the parts you need for under 10 bucks

This is a great method, measuring the source is usually easier than measuring the whole quilt.
