Hey all. Still fine tuning my gear. Yesterday they were calling for windy weather, temps mid 20's and snow. I sent up before dark. The trees I use weren't the best for the wind direction, a little right of hammock end. I used my diy uq, my diy uqp, my diy's tq and pltq. At nine, I went out to the hammock and got situated. IMG_20160214_211905274.jpg An hour later I'm getting cold spots along my shoulders so I got up and put my pad w/spe under me. Big help. Around 12:30 it started to snow. My feet were getting a little cold due to the wind on that end so I put the headlamp on to check things out and I notice snow on the pltq.IMG_20160215_022148212.jpg Brushed it off and got up and tried to close up the gap on the foot end of the tarp as best as I could. That done, I checked the tarp stakes and relocated the stake right side shoulder, trying to get the tarp away from laying against me.1505095_1110493488982563_8826634058433652928_n.jpg (ground very soft in that section) Fell asleep woke up around four and noticed dampness on the right shoulder side of the uqp and some on the pltq. Underneath all dry. Slept until six. Still snowing but only an inch on the ground. Got up and got ready to break camp. I found the stake had popped out which caused the tarp to be up against me. Lotta condensation on that side too. Got everything put away and went back to the marina. Conclusion. I need to make that griz beak and add the over-the-top pull outs for the tarp. Having a hot water bottle or hand warmers would be a nice touch in the footbox. And I need to figure out staking in soft ground too. Low was 24° and with the w/c maybe in the teens. This was my lowest temps and a first having it snow overnight. Had fun and learned a lot about my gear.
