No carabiners with BB?

I just recieved my BB hammock with the adjustable strap suspension and I was surprised that there were no included carabiners. Do you have to purchase them separately? If that is the case, what type of carabiners are recommended.

Biners are not included, nor are they necessary for the adjustable strap suspension. If you want to alter the suspension and use biners (like I did with whoopie slings), here are some nice lightweight biners...

Instead of biners, you could same some weight and use Dutch Clips. There's a few pairs left in the HF store.

No need for biners? Ok, then I dont understand how this suspension system works. Why is there a loop at the end of the strap? Maybe the you tube video will help.

You loop the strap around the tree and then run the end through the loop and down to your hammock.

OK, well the you tube video shows the suspension being used with a biner. It looks like you can skip the biner but that means you would have to undo the strapping in the buckle and then thread back into the buckle after hanging the webbing around the tree. Its seems that it would be much quicker and simpler to use the carabiners.

by the way, dont think it makes a difference for the purpose of this thead, but my BB has the new buckles, not the triangles.

The biner just makes it easier to remove the hammock from the tree as you wouldn't have to remove the strap from the hammock and back through that loop.

For a webbing based suspension carabiners or dutch clips just make life a lot easier. Un threading the webbing and rethreading it to the buckle each and every time you set up. I like the dutch style clips a lot but I end up still using my carabiners cause they can be used for other things when not hanging the hammock. The ones we have at AHE are some of the lightest to smallest to strongest on the market. And they come in cool stealthy almost camo looking colors.

Any climbing rated 'biner will be good, or a few folks like Paul sell strong biners that aren't climbing rated, but are hopefully strong enough.

I use a couple of CAMP Nano wiregate carabiners. But I like knowing I could use them for climbing stuff as well, since I do a fair bit of climbing.

Actually ours are fully climbing rated and for 1 gram more are stronger then the CAMP carabiners at about the same size.
