    Spring MAHHA hike in

I would like to hike into MAHHA again this year. Anyone else interested? I plan to take Thursday and Friday off, so I would either like to start Wednesday evening or Thursday morning.

Since last year I hiked in from the South (Caledonia State Park), I'm thinking about going in from the North this year. I did the hike from Boiling Springs two years ago and it was nice.

I am also interested in any other suggestions...any takers?

The white rocks trail near boiling springs is nice. It meets the AT north of whiskey springs. There is some nice views.

For a full day I normally am around 15 miles. If coming in from Boiling Springs it is 12 miles to the Tagg Run Shelter camp sites (also referred to as James Fry Shelter). That leaves a little over 7 miles in to PGFSP for Friday morning.

I will be hiking in with my dad - his very first backpacking trip! :-) We will probably start from Caledonia since it's his first time, leaving Thursday morning. Can't wait to see everyone again!

Very cool. If I don't get a few takers hiking in SB, then I may join you NB. I just figured we did NB last year, but I think that is the way to go for a first hike....that maze of rocks in the one section SB was a little tricky.

My thoughts exactly! My dad is a VERY strong hiker. I'm on my way home from Arizona, and he kicked my booty at elevation! I figure i will have a slight advantage with a full pack, however ;-)
