Zipper Mod to old style WBBB

Has anyone tried adding a small zipper to the other side of the blackbird at the shelf area to help give access to adjust an under quilt? I'm not thinking a full zip. Something around 2 feet long should be plenty. I'm new to the mod thing and do not want to damage the integrity of the hammock. Just trying to get some ideas.

    Thanks!

Thus kind of funny in a way. Since I starting offering the window on my 'Swift' line of hammocks at LSoH I've gotten several msg's and emails to do this to WB and other hammocks. I've declined not wanting to tamper with other vendors gear. We were joking about calling it The 'Swift Window' Mod.

I would reach out to 2QZQ they started their cottage business doing zipper mods. The ZQ stands for Zipper Queen. They are really nice people - Donna (ZQ) has organized the Spring MAHHA for the last few years.

Thanks, my goal is a quick diy type solution. I would sale this one and buy a newer model before sending this off for a custom solution. I'm hoping someone may have tried this with success.

I've bought a few things from 2QZQ. They are great to work with.

It would be nice. I don't think it would mess with the design of the WBBB i just was curious if anyone attempted it and had any advice to make it simple and painless.

I thought about doing it a few years ago but never went ahead with it. I think if the zipper is put close to of at the start of the shelf, there would be not problems with fabric stress. IIRC Brandon put a little pocket in the same location on his El Dorado hammock (one of his first hammocks - only 5 ever made).

That's what I am thinking, at the shelf. I will search for pics of the mythical El Dorado.

I never had problems with grabbing the underquilt through the extra fabric of the shelf. And once the underquilt suspension is properly fine-tuned, there shouldn't be a need to adjust it that would warrant a zipper mod.
