Novice rain question

So, I built my asym double layer ripstop hammock, whipped with strap ties,
12' harbor freight straps. The hammock itself is about 8.5' long.

I tested this setup in a wooded area.

Set it up under an 8x10 poly tarp set up in a diamond.

Sleeps good. I left it set up for about 3 days in off and on heavy rain and had a small amout of water in the bottom of the hammock. More like just wet rather than a puddle. About 8" i diam.

I was thinking that it was probably wind driven rain, but not really sure since it was such a small amount.

My question is when the straps get wet will they weep water into the main hammock fabric over a long period of time and if so how do you control it ??

Tie a short piece of string to your suspension so that you have some dangling a couple of inches before the suspension meets the hammock. Do this on both ends of the hammock. These are called drip lines, and any rain that comes down the suspension (and it will) will go down that piece of string instead of into the hammock. Just make sure that when your tarp is set up, the drip lines are under the tarp. If you were using rings on your suspension, and the tarp covered them, they would do the same job.

Don't tie the strings too tight on the webbing, or you might form a channel through which the water can run right past the drip lines. If putting drip lines on ropes, go ahead and tighten them all you want.
