I have had some of the Figure 9's for a while but never had any small diameter rope. At the campout last weekend I bought some of Ed's Orange Spectra cord. Tonight I tried the setup on my tarp. I tied a noose knot on the end of the rope going thru the tarp end and put the Figure 9's on. I have a lot of rope on each end right now. I setup it up with no problems. I pulled on the rope just to make sure everything held and it did. Quick and easy for sure.

My tarp is the 9x9 Sportsman Guide tarp so the ridgeline is approx 12'. Question though, how much rope should be on each end of your tarp?

I use 8' on the ends of mine, 6' on the sides. I think others use more, but I've not had problems so far.

i tend to use a little more... maybe 10-12' on the ridge lines & 8-10 on the sides.
the extra comes in handy sometimes, but it's not a problem when it's not needed.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

Yeah, but I use bigger/slightly heavier line than you do. The extra footage would actually be significant with my stuff.
