    Hammock Anchors

Now that the hammock anchors have been out for a bit, i was wondering what everyone's experience has been? I bought them right off the bat and love them. (Thanks HammockFan) I however have noticed they have chewed up the Amsteel a bit and I was wondering if it was just me or this was a normal wear and tear for them. The damage is nothing drastic, but it is noticeable.

I think others found that they damaged amsteel, too. That's why Dutch discontinued them.

re Dutch: that was the earlier Speed Hooks.

I believe there're a number of people that have had issues with both Speed Hooks and Hammock Anchors. Each product does still maintain a loyal following from folks willing to put up with replacing the lead from time to time.

To my mind, they're equivalent, work the same way, have potential to fail the same way.

Good idea but I found they caused too much wear and tear on the Amsteel and stopped using them

I think they are awesome. I don't go out for more than a week at a time though and don't mind replacing amsteel if I see some abnormal wear and tear. Would I count on my amsteel to last for a through hike? Nope... But I don't plan to spend that long on the trail. Just my two cents.

I really like my Hammock Anchors from Hammock Fan, I purchased mine shortly after he started selling them, so far everything look fine, no extra wear. So easy for me to use.

I ordered a pair a week or so ago and have not yet had a chance to use them. Out of curiosity at which location is there wear on the Amsteel? At the continuous loop, the lead as it wraps around the anchor or both areas?

I love my pair. I also use hammock fans tree anchor/strap anchor combo absolutely the best thing I've found. It works for me.
