    DIY gadget storage.

Now that I have started some DIY projects, I have ended up with some really unorganized things. What do you guys use to organize things in the DIY world. Things like ripstop, thread, cord locks, Amsteel. Right now mine are in the packages they were shipped in, so I have to go through those to find what I need. So show me your DIY material organizers.

I think the OP means storing things at home. I use clear plastic shoe boxes from the dollar store for small stuff and a cabinet for the bigger.
Look up before you hook up!!

flip top boxes and lots of zip lock freezer bags for small stuff (zippers, hardware, elastic cord, ribbon, etc).

Little stuff goes in a hanging jewelry bag, the kind with clear windows and a zipper. My needles and other little things like bobbins and thread are easy to see and safe from the cats paws or the dogs mouth. I have a military pack where I store my fabric. I have been known to hoard fabric (stash) now I only keep fabric for one project, nothing saved for future projects. No extra fabric has significantly cut down on the clutter of my thread injecting. I also keep spare parts for my machines in with the little bits and pieces of things one accumulates while working on projects. If I do not keep everything secure it wanders off and I spend too much time looking for it.

Sterilite brand 18 Gallon Tote Boxes with lids (gray or black, less than five dollars at Walmart stores)

Sterilite brand Clear 6 quart shoe boxes with lids. About 12 x 6 x 4 inches. One dollar at Home Depot stores now. I have about a hundred of these. These are much thicker and better made than Dollar Tree ones. They hold a lot.

Clear soft plastic fishing tackle storage boxes, these come with many multiple adjustable divider insertss, hammock "Bling" boxes and for sewing items, under ten dollars at WalMart stores.

Blue plastic mushroom boxes, 5 x 5 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches, what fresh mushrooms come in at the grocery store.

I also have quite a few larger Sterilite gray Tote boxes, 30 gallon size, about ten dollars at Walmart. These are used to store all manner of things that the 18 gallon Totes are too small for. Gray boxes gradually don't draw attention, so they are not unattractive in a room. The black ones contain much of my hammocking and backpacking gear, and those on my sunny screened in porch, resist both UV breakdown and the rain that blows in.

Hope this helps. Google and you can find these online, except for the mushroom boxes, although I notice that the fishing boxes I see online are all more expensive and different from the ones in their stores.
