Just a note: That's TATO's personal hammock. These things were designed not specifically FOR Ridgerunners, but definitely with them in mind. We absolutely wanted people to be able to use whatever hammock they had with this stand.

Update on TATO Gear Hammock Stands

It seems we underestimated the amount these would shift around in their bag and the Velcro straps that hold them together while folded. We have had the one unit that has had some damage to the powder coating that we know of. From this point on these will be wrapped in paper inside the bags and the boxes stuffed to prevent shifting as much as possible. Please contact me at [email protected] if your unit has paint damage. Thanks

I found the instructions to be excellent.

Read them before assembly. (I often don't haha)

It is most important to secure the continuous loops with the swivel cap on the top of the tripod. That prevents the loops from possibly coming off the hooks while getting in/out of the hammock or when moving the tripod.

Leg spread limiters, I think they are must have for safety reasons.

I like the addition of the guy lines and stake outs. Pay attention to the orientation of the tripod during setup. It's easy enough to rotate the tripod if you don't have it correctly setup but it does involve removing the continuous loop and reinstalling it, so save yourself a little hassle and get it right the first time.

Tato, are you still planning on offering this option?

When will these be available for new orders not part of the Kickstarter campaign?

Totally agree and I will do a separate writeup soon.

This was a "live" broadcast of sorts, live blogging of the first, or one of the first, Tato Hammock stands delivered. It was intended to convey the excitement of an unboxing as it happened, hype the product a little bit and provide some vicarious satisfaction for those awaiting delivery.

I will do a little write up / side by side comparison with one of the DIY stands next week. This weekend I will be using both stands and snapping some pics in what I hope is a very scenic location.

I'll go ahead and edit my posts and see if I can consolidate them in this thread for the time being.
