You can seal the refuse sack up with a food bag clip (or a knot), that is airtight and the dry bag just needs to be strong. It would probably sort the issue with the drybag closure too.
Interesting idea. So I could basically sew a ripstop pad shell to carry the weight, and the trash bag would make it airtight?

    I reckon.
Probably doesn't need a drybag closure either, a drawstring will likely keep the trashbag inside.
So, a large, strong stuffsack then!

Very cool idea, Gadget! There are some areas I'd like to go to in Northern AZ where this would be quite useful. I'm a little doubtful about the trash bag/shell version, but testing should be easy to confirm that it works.

Now, if any of our vendors need a test dummy for a prototype, I'm available!

Hop over to Holland and see if the guys at Lamzac can do something for you. Similar concept. I've been on their waiting list for a while.

The inflatable tent frame is really cool looking. Wonder if that would have a tarp pole application?

    Neat idea. I like it.

I'm not sure cuben material would work for this application. Years ago someone tried to make a sleep pad out of cuben. It didn't work out so well.

Thermarest has a pad called Neoair XLite Max SV. (Speed valve) i've seen one at an REI. It's their XLite pad with a roll top closure at the head end. The function is for quicker inflation and deflation. Similar design to what you are trying to achieve here. Maybe someone can mod one of these pads to resemble your idea, or combine some of the features together.

    Multi use as a dry bag/ pack liner/ ground pad/ ?
