Best Way to Finish a Hem

When I made my synthetic quilt a put it together wrong side out, sewed the perimeter all the way around leaving about 12-14" open. I then turned the quilt right side out and did a rolled hem on the opening. I was a little hard to catch the Climate, maybe I should have cut the Climate bigger.

Is there a better way to finish this off than a rolled hem on that 12-14" opening?

Once it is right side out you can fold those pieces back in like the rest of the hem. Then top stitch the remainder. I think that is how my wife does pillows.

That's exactly what I do, just turn the edges in (one around the Climashield) and topstitch. The other option is to blind stitch by hand that remaining 12-14" (can't explain it, you'd have to google it), but I don't think it's worth the 10-15 minutes of hand sewing vs 10-15 seconds on the machine. If you sewed through the Climashield everywhere else, it shouldn't matter too much for that last 12" or so.

If you look this up do NOT search for "blind stitch hem" as that will give you intructions for a whole different beastie and will confuse the daylights out of you. Blind stitching as a hand sewing technique is a good sskill to know if you are doing high end products for elite sales. Otherwise I don't think it is worth the effort. This is, after all, a quilt for your own use. Top stitching is more decorative and quicker.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

I use tape to hold it in place. Cheap clear scotch tape type stuff. Works amazing. You use it to hold your seam in place and then you can be a little aggressive with it when pushing the insulation under.
