Thanks everyone for the replies. I hadn't checked my post since I placed it...I figured the forum would notify me of replies via email, but I guess not. I went on a hike in the Cohutta Wilderness with a fellow hanger who also has a YouTube channel. His name is Sleeves...you guys should check out his channel and mine...mine is listed under my name...Brady Essary. I've yet to find a hammock I feel comfortable in, so I just ordered a Hennessey. I've got a number of other hammocks that I'd like to part with, including an Amok Dramaur 3.0 with tarp and air mattress.

I'm also looking at trying out bikepacking. I've got one of my bikes set up for it now, but haven't tried packing it down yet. I also haven't figured out any places I want to go yet. If anyone wishes to reach me, feel free to email me directly at [email protected] or call/text at 770-807-9623.

If y'all want to take a trip, check out the Alabama hang in the Sipsey Wilderness. The spring Hang is in two weeks. The fall hang is usually in October.

Thanks Charlotte. I'm waiting on new gear to arrive since I haven't been comfortable or satisfied with any of my existing gear. My tarp will take 2-4 weeks to come in, so I'll have to pass on that particular event...but thank you for mentioning it!

If that's the only thing holding you back, maybe you could use a t%#t, or interim gear? Somebody going might even lend you a rig to try. There are a number of accomplished DIYers, some even sell some pieces. The guys are very helpful and willing to show you their gear and set-ups. I learned quite a bit and modified my ENO suspension after participation last fall.

Oh I have plenty of gear just not happy with any of it so far. I just can't find a set up yet that I'm really comfortable with. I have an asymmetrical hammock on the way along with a cuben fiber tarp. Got another backpack coming too. I plan on doing some short trips soon to test all the new gear.
