In an hugely successful undertaking, Philadelphia is bringing back the Spruce Street Pop Up Park for 2016!! Pop Up Parks are temporary parks setup for a given season and then disappear like Brigadoon. This park featured a large number of hammocks for public use and apparently 1/2 million people really enjoyed it, so Philly is bringing back this year.
Spruce Street Pop Up Park Returns for 2016Spruce Street Harbor Park has been an absolutely amazing addition to Philadelphia’s summer scene since 2014, and we are psyched to see the riverfront park return in 2016.
Last summer, Spruce Street Harbor Park drew more than half a million visitors and was lauded as one of the best urban beaches in America and one of the best places to visit in Philadelphia.
This year, the park will not only open three weeks earlier than last year, but it will also remain free and open to the public with hours every day this summer thanks to the generosity of Univest Corporation and Valley Green Bank, a division of Univest Bank and Trust Co. Pretty cool.

The park featured 50 hammocks for lounging and just taking in the sights and sounds.
I'll be hauling the nephews and nieces over to chillax for an evening and will probably drop by on my own a couple times. HF'ers post up if you're thinking you might need an excuse to get out in the City this summer. Park opens in May.
