Adding to the post count: another Sparrow ordered

After reading voluminous posts and comments, drooling over pictures of others set ups, contemplating all of the various options, I finally pulled the trigger on an 11' Sparrow. Looking forward to a full week of Scout camp this summer in a Dream hammock!

BTW: Am using Hammock Gear UQs. I'm curious if there are others that have used this combo and how the UQ hooks work with Hammock Gear UQs???

    Thanks!

The UQ hooks on my DH always worked great on my HG Incubator. They're pretty universal as the suspension lines from almost any underquilt fit into the hooks.

I will let you know how it goes with EE underquilts my new Sparrow should be here before our April Scout outing. I think that you made a good decision.

The UQ hooks AND TIE OUT HOOKS on my Dream Hammock work wonderfully with the 1/8 shock cord inside my Hammock Gear's UQ's side channels. Before I confuse you, please realize that I am primarily talking about two of the four TIE-OUT hooks that are more centrally located on the hammock's sides, and not the UQ hooks nearest the end of the hammock. Those at the end do have purpose in my hybridized UQ attachment scheme, but I have re-purposed two of the tie-out hooks as they are more strategically located on the side of the hammock than are the UQ hooks on the end. Because of their location the tie-out hooks actually work better for me in keeping the UQ where I want it than the UQ hooks do.

The 1/8" shock cord and the material that makes up the channel are difficult to get it the hook's cord channels, but that KEEPS them in there. I use two of the four tie-out hooks to "asym" locate the UQ on a diagonal underneath me: hook the UQ side channel AND the cord inside the side channel into the tie-out hook nearest my outboard shoulder. Then do the same on the other side, hooking the UQ to the tie-out hook channel nearest my feet. I have not had any instance of UQ shifting during the night using this method.

Some national parks have long waiting lists for camping reservations. When you have to wait a year to sleep next to a tree, something is wrong. ~George Carlin

It's here! It's here! The hammock is here!

First impressions: its's beautiful! Georgeous Oriole's themed hammock to not only support the best team in baseball, but also bright orange so I can find the thing in the woods.

Second impressions: the stitching and craftsmanship is top notch. The design is amazing. I'm very impressed with the work that was done to create this hammock.

It's also quite comfortable. Really nice lie right after initial set up. I'm very much looking forward to my first night in it.

Q: I had ordered the Sparrow with UQ hooks. What's the preferred method for attaching underquilts to the hammock?

Thanks Poppa Smurf and all of the rest of the Smurfs!

First outdoor deployment: Rafting this past weekend with Scouts. Camped at Ohiopyle State Park. It started raining soon after we got set up (~ 11PM) and continued off an on throughout the weekend. I was snug as can be in the Sparrow!

Am kicking myself for not getting a pic of the back side of the tarp. Went with a hunkered down version of porch mode to try to create a bit more space under the tarp while still keeping the rain out. Did well even with the consistent and sometimes prodigious quantities of rain.

Sparrow did great! I'd done interior testing at home for several nights. Nice to get the perspective from the piney woods!!!
