DIY 2 layer costco topquilt and triple layer costco under quilt tested

Tested my DIY Costco double layer top quilt and triple layer bottom quilt last night to -3C (26F). Wearing just jeans and a hoody, I was slightly cooler than toasty warm. Long johns, a toque and warmer socks would have made the difference to a 4.5 star rating.

That's great work there . I have a single layer tq and uq. Haven't put them to the test yet. May have a chance this weekend.
I would rather be in the woods... my dog would rather be in the pool. My wife thinks we are both nuts.

I have a triple layer UQ and single layer TQ that I used into the mid 30s a couple of weekends ago and was comfortable. I did supplement the system with a very old (20+ years) warm weather synthetic sleeping bag. I did not have any specialty clothing on; just long johns, PJ pants, LS t-shirt, down vest, and thin fleece jacket. I think I could've gone a little colder, but the temps I reached are about the lowest I expect to camp in anyway.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm hoping for similar results with a double layer TQ and UQ.

You might want to post in the WTB area as folks should not be selling items in this section.

BTW, are they only quilted in one direction? I thought they were quilted into squares, but I haven't received mine yet. Did you take the cross seams out?

I can't imagine anything colder to wear than Jeans. Try a simple base layer and loose fitting wool socks. You will be amazed at the difference. Good work, I have several of those quilts and will probably use them to make a summer TQ.
