I know I don't want to use full length UQ for the temps we are at. Never below 20. I'll keep trying and at some point it will fall into place what works and the drawbacks are minimal.
I can say that by night 2 I found that the solution most easiest was to sit up, grab reflectex and position it outside and under my foot box of the TQ.

The back panel from my Gossamer Gear Gorilla pack. No extra weight or bulk and the pad works great, just the right size for my HG Phoenix.

We now stock a few diffrent kinds of pads. The one Meekin mentioned is our more popular partial length foot pad: http://www.arrowhead-equipment.com/s...Foot_Pad_.html They are cut and shaped with a taper to them to help them fit inside your top quilt better. They are also a foam that has a little traction to it just by the nature of the type of pad. The other nice thing is they can easily be cut with a sharp knife to trim it just how you like.

I remembered I have a Gossamer Gear 1/8" pad that weighs 2.6oz. I can fold it up and try it next go around. Might be a solution that won't slide as much.

I did a little more playing around tonight and I think I had my suspension and head and foot end so tight it was pushing itself up past my shoulders and short sheeting my ankles some on my trip.

Relaxing the suspension some and opening the ends a touch seemed to fit me better but still wasn't dropping to have air gaps.

If it's in the high-40's or up, I don't use anything. Having my feet in the footbox of my TQ is enough. In the lower 40's, I use a piece of cheap ccf pad. If it's colder, I'm using a full length quilt!

I must be the only one who does not use a pad at my feet. I used a 3/4 UQ with no pad for the whole AT with no problems.
