    Tannins...looks like you're filtering urine!

There are a couple "ponds" you can find using google or bing maps. Here's one about half way.

When getting stale water like this, I prefilter it well. Then I throw in a chlorine dioxide tablet for good measure. Then I filter it thru my sawyer. The chlorine dioxide can take up to 4 hours, but I never wait that long. That's a worse case scenario for crpyto, using cold water. But that's up to the individual to decide and chance.

Taste crappy as well. I have an in line carbon filter I used to carry when I hiked Nebo/Deam's for that very reason.

I never noticed any problems, but it sure wouldn't hurt! I've used carbon filters on occasion in other sources and they always do a great job.

Seasonal stream at the base of the Henge, is worth the trip down the ridge to see if it's running, before squeezing tannins from the pond. Nice secluded campsite there as well.

Do you mean at the base of the Browning Hill "stonehenge"? It's around 6 miles off of Nebo from the north entrance?

You are right. It's beautiful down there. We call it Bad Hollow.
Predictions are risky, especially when it comes to the future.
